For each cohort, an RTG retreat is held after approximately 18 months, which has to be attended by each doctoral researcher. In contrast to the alumni and visitors workshops, the focus lies on the internal evaluation of the scientific progress of the RTG. To this end, the doctoral researchers report their scientific activities to the board of PAs and to the external advisory board. Based on the presentations given by the doctoral researchers, the board of PAs and the external advisory board assess the individual scientific progress.
The RTG retreats are held as two-day seminars at suitable, secluded venues outside the FAU campi and are be accompanied by social activities to enable informal get-together.
This 1. RTG-Retreat will be combined with the 4. RTG-Seminar.
In the 4. RTG-Seminar, the current developments of each doctoral project are presented as talks of 15 min duration with 5 min subsequent discussion. Based on these seminars, the doctoral researcher and the mentoring team may evaluate the progress of the doctoral project also in comparison to the other projects.
