The GRK 2423 FRASCAL Research Training Group has organized a special seminar together with Prof. Stefano Zapperi (Center for Complexity & Biosystems, University of Milan, Italy), winner of the Alexander von Humboldt Research Award and currently visiting scientist at the Chair of Materials Simulation. This seminar is about “Bad Scientific Practice ”, so to speak. The lecturer is the independent science journalist Dr. Leonid Schneider from Frankfurt (Main). He will speak in an approximately one-hour lecture followed by a detailed discussion about „Bad Player in Materials Science and Nanotechnology“. A serious topic is presented in an entertaining manner.

We would like to invite everyone to the seminar:

Dr. Leonid Schneider

“Bad Players in Materials Science and Nanotechnology

Where is hype, there is fraud. This seminar will tell you about falsified science, made-up awards and fake conferences, all happening in the field of material sciences and nanotechnology. Not all bad players are from India and China, and not all participants of scamferences are gullible early career researchers. Opposing bad practices is not something authorities can or are even willing to do: it is namely up to you, the scientists.
